Penal Substitution: A Twisted Truth

An essay reflecting on Penal Substitution and the biblical teaching of forgiveness.

Sympathy for satan: milton’s paradise lost

John Milton wrote the most controversial character in classic literature… and it’s the Devil. Is Milton’s Satan a Tragic Hero? An Absurd Villian? Why do people get so heated about this? This is my two cents on this whole debacle.

[You may want to be acquainted with Paradise Lost before reading this]

GOOD ZOMBIES VS BAD ZOMBIES

In this essay I will argue for the Perennial Tradition which advocates for the possibility of God revealing himself and sending His Spirit to those who are practicing other religions, such as voodoo, by doing a close reading of Zora Neale Hurston.

A WHITE GIRL ON WHITE PRIVILEGE

In this essay I will show how Frederick Douglass’ reference to privilege in Chapters 1 and 11—specifically in regards to the lack of lack and unmerited positive treatment white people experience—affirm Eddo-Lodge’s claim that white people have retained an ignorance to their privilege. I will then address how, as Christians, we should respond to said ignorance in white culture by looking to James 2:1-5, Zechariah 7:11, and Ecclesiastes 1:18. So how does white privilege look today compared to 150 years ago?

Arminianism, Calvinism, and C.S. Lewis

This essay argues C.S. Lewis' position in regards to the human role and divine role in salvation, while referring to his works Mere Christianity, Screwtape Letters, and the Great Divorce.

The Irrefutable Claim that Homosexuality is Wrong

"The opposite of faith is not doubt, it is certainty." - Paul Tillich

This essay takes a close look at the Biblical claim that homosexuality is wrong. For some it may be surprising how rocky this evidence in scripture really is, thus the sarcastic title. It is a scary notion for so many, that this harmful, oppressive claim that has costed thousands of lives does have doubtful foundations. As Descartes' has affirmed in me, there can be no certainty if there is reason to doubt. My objective in this essay is not to change someone's entire belief regarding this claim, but to humble them in their certainty and hopefully inspire greater peace between the Christian and LGBTQ community.

Note: To make my argument stronger, the research material I based my essay on are from accredited academic works arguing that Homosexuality, is indubitably, a sin. In other words, I take the strongest arguments in biblical interpretation, and I put them to the test. I admit, I do have a bias in my interpretation of scriptures, like everyone else. However, when I wrote this essay one year ago (revised since) I was genuinely searching for the truth, whatever it may be. I found the source material mentioned above, and looked deeper into their subsequent sources. This is what I found.
